Sometimes, it is…3 strikes, you’re IN!

In the summer of 2020, my husband saw this ranch was for sale. When he first mentioned it, I didn’t even slow down to look at the pictures, but he did point it out a time or two since it sat just north of the route we took between where our cows were and our business. In September 2020, he mentioned that the price had dropped, so I took the time to look over the photos on the website. The next morning, I woke up and told him that I believed God said we should buy this ranch! We made an appointment to tour it with the real estate agent and spent several hours touring with him. We made an offer…but after 5 or 6 or 7 counteroffers…that were going nowhere, we threw in the towel. Strike number 1. That was December 2020. In late February 2021, we decided to stop by to see what was happening with the place. We were told the sale was now going through attorneys so we called immediately only to be told that another offer was coming in that day so we had better hurry with ours! Two days later, the attorney called and said the place was sold. Strike number 2. Each weekend, as we drove to and from the cattle, we watched thing being cleaned up and the preparations for the equipment auction. We were unable to attend the auction in early May 2021…or chose not to. Two weeks after the auction, we encountered the auctioneer and asked how it had gone. We learned the auction went well…and that the buyer had backed out! My husband and I looked at each other in disbelief!! Who gets 3 opportunities to buy the same place!! And buy it we did!3 Strikes You’re IN!! We closed exactly one year from our first tour of the property.

As many of our new neighbors have said – this place hasn’t seen any love in a long, long time! Maybe 30+ years. We knew it would take a lot of sweat equity to get it turned around – the house, the corrals, the scale, the shop…they all need work. But we feel very blessed and believe with all our hearts that God DID want us to own this property! May the glory be His.
